Division 2 Subsidiary Cup Group A Update - Qualification rests on the final game

After conceding an early penalty converted by Marlborough at the second attempt, Intel fought hard and recovered to equalise with an excellent glancing header from Adams, connecting on a Ruberry corner. The draw was enough to see Malrborough Town into the knock-out phase of the competition leaving Intel with a "winner take all" game next week against FC Chippenham Youth who beat Dynamo CDR 2 -1.

Apologies their is an error in the table - Dynamo CDR are above Intel based on the head to head results.

Division 2 Subsidiary Cup Group A Update

Intel FC, now one of the teams to beat, got off to a less than sparkling start in the Subsidiary Cup competition announced last month. The opening fixture saw Intel narrowly beat Marlborough Town Reserves 2 - 1 followed by back to back defeats (0 - 2 & 3 - 1) to an 'up for it' Dynamo CDR (welcome to CDR boys who we know are regular readers of this site). The table clearly shows the challenge ahead for Intel if they want to proceed to the knock out stage.

Final League Game Pics & Celebration

Intel FC finish the league in style with a 4 - 0 victory against Chalke Valley, the team we opened our Wilts League Division 2 campaign against back in August 2007. This was a tough encounter with both sides wanting to go one better than the previous 2 - 2 draw in the driving rain & wind during the typical UK summer. Intel's goal scorers Mike 'Hoves' Taylor, Rory Trevest, Michael Blackwell and Adam O'Bree sealed a runners up finish and secured promotion to division 1. More match pictures can be virwed in the season 2007 08 album here. Following the game there was a small celebration with the gaffer getting things started (see the video on the right) with team looking forward to the Wilts Division 2 Subsidiary Cup, World Corporate Games Soccer competition & end of season tour (venue to be announced).

Intel dispatch KC FC 2-1 & return to the top of Div 2

Intel continued their 10 game unbeaten run with a 2 -1 win away to KC FC. With goals from Cowen & O´Bree, the first half got off to a great start as Intel took the game to KC playing some great football on a very poor pitch. Intel spent most of the second half soaking up the pressure as KC pushed more & more forward looking for some break to get them back into the game. A very stop / start affair continued with increasing frustration from both side as free kicks & yellow card became more a more frequent. Unfortunately in the last 5 minutes KC got a lucky break when a poor clearance from Shute landed at the feet of a KC forward who took full advantage. Too little to late as Intel saw off the last few minutes to take the 3 points and go back to the top of division 2.

Full results from the weekend below:-
Chalke Valley 4 - 0 Minety Res
Dynamo CDR 3 - 0 Swindon Irons
KC FC 1 - 2 Intel FC
